FIVEaa adds digital
Digital radio began in Adelaide in May, bringing unprecedented flexibility to what has been a onedimensional medium. Top-rating talkback radio station FIVEaa, part of the dmg group, was ready to go from day one as the breakthrough dealt with a longstanding problem for AM radio broadcasters.
“The main point is clearer sound and improved reception, particually important for AM stations who have traditionally been at a disadvantage to FM stations,” says dmg Adelaide GM, Paul Bartlett.
“Areas on the fringe of coverage area, particularly in the southern metropolitan area, or in offices will now have no issue with reception.” But more important to listeners will be the extra features digital radio - technically known as DAB+ - offers.
