Hong Kong invests in trade links

In July, Hong Kong Australia Business Association SA’s trade mission co-ordinator, Ian Mathison, was in Hong Kong on a trade delegation for the Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring Summer Trade Show.
Ian escorted a group of TAFE fashion design students to meet industry figures and experience the international fashion market and this activity is typical of this remarkably active organisation.
Hong Kong also has a Trade Development Commission which conducts a strong communications campaign to keep potential Australian trade partners informed.
When the Hong Kong Government handed down this year’s Budget in March, HKTDC was quick to get the message out. The trade-dependent Hong Kong economy is expected to contract 2%-3% this year, but headline inflation is expected to fall to 1.6% in essentially strong fundamentals.
