10th Annual SA Great Regional Awards
Part of SA Great’s strategic intent is to retain young South Australians through its programs and initiatives. Speakers in Schools plays a vital role in growing State confidence by addressing South Australia’s future workforce needs.
The Speakers in Schools program invites SA professionals, under the age of 45, to visit schools
across the State to share their career success stories
with students.
Since 2005, the program has presented to more than 75000 students, encouraging them to pursue their careers here in SA. The SA Great Speakers in Schools program has achieved fantastic progress this year, with presentation numbers growing and more than 165 new speakers coming on board since January.
Currently, more than 400 speakers from a range of industries are involved with the program. Speakers are selected from some of SA’s leading organisations to show students that SA offers many rewarding career paths. Such diversity also ensures students are exposed to as many career options as possible from both traditional and emerging industries.
Speakers in Schools has also given SA businesses a unique opportunity to communicate directly with
the State’s upcoming workforce and promote their organisation as a great workplace for school leavers.
A current speaker, Tim Keen from International Power, believes this is an excellent chance to beat skill shortages and promote industries less popular with the younger generation.
