Bringing a global career to Adelaide
When businessman Andrew Phillips took a decision to base his global career in Adelaide, he didn’t expect overnight success.
After living in the USA for eight years and becoming an expert in specialist training programs, Andrew, who grew up in country SA, had reservations about running an international business from Adelaide.
Despite this, Andrew took a global approach to business by securing the Australian and New Zealand franchise for Brian Tracy International, a world leader in professional development. In July 2009 the Brian Tracy International courses became Australian Government accredited training programs allowing businesses to benefit from management and staff development in a cost-neutral way.
Andrew has gained clients such as Adelaide Motors (BMW) and Wendys. For the staff at BMW, he tailored a sales training and personal development course based on the techniques of Brian Tracy International. For Wendys, up to 105 managers and staff will learn to improve their time management skills.
Andrew has spent the past year recruiting Brian Tracy International licensees in Australia and NZ and he believes the lifestyle benefits are worth the creative marketing effort required.
“Successful business practices require a global approach,” Andrew says. “Being Adelaide-based has really been a lifestyle choice. In terms of building my business, I constantly seize new business and networking opportunities whether they are in Adelaide or across Australia and New Zealand.”
He says Adelaide is becoming a city of choice in terms of lifestyle benefits and business opportunities. But the Adelaide audience is also benefiting from global expertise.
