Family Business Australia
Family Business Australia has appointed Richard Owens as Chairman of its National Board. Andrew Kennard has been elected as Deputy Chairman. Richard, who takes over as Chairman from David Haymes, is the Chairman of his family’s diversified retail, real estate and investment company, and is a vigneron and wine producer from Oakvale in the Hunter Valley. Richard is also Adjunct Professor of Bond University in Australia. In 2000, Richard was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his service to business and to the community.
Family Firm Institute
Family business expert, Dr Jill Thomas has become the first Australian to be elected to the Board of Directors of the Family Firm Institute, an international body for professional advisors, consultants, educators and researchers in the field of family enterprise. Based in the US, the FFI provides education and network opportunities as well as publishing journals and convening annually.
Statewide Superannuation Trust
Statewide Superannuation Trust has appointed John O’Flaherty as its CEO. Most recently, John was the GM of Super SA and will take up the role in October. John is also a Director of the Fund Executive Association, a superannuation education and training body for executives, and is a member of the AIST Special Projects Committee.

David Inglis, Geoff Inglis and Gary Matheson have been appointed as Partners to business advisory and consulting firm mhm, following the merger between mhm and accounting firm Inglis Rowe. Chartered accountants, David Inglis and Geoff Inglis join mhm having been partners and directors at Inglis Rowe for about 20 years. Gary Matheson was made partner at Inglis Rowe in 2000 having build a career with the public and private sector.
