High-tech Connection Pays Off
Electronics design firm ODA technologies gives us yet another example of how well local talent stacks up against the world standard.
Justin and Brendon Parise founded the company as EDA Technologies in 1998. They intended to concentrate on the local printed circuit board (PCB) design market and search for work in other states if possible. As the business grew they moved in to Innovation House, Technology Park. Designer John Girvan was hired in September 1999 to help with the growing workload.
ODA designs and develops printed circuit boards, which are at the heart of all high technology. John and his fellow designers use very sophisticated software (Mentor Graphic) to create and condense very intricate electronics into the smallest possible space.
John believes EDA came to international notice because Brendon Parise took the risk and made the effort to go overseas to PCB user group conferences and electronics trade shows (particularly the massive PCBWest in Silicone Valley) twice a year to market EDA services personally in the Silicon Valley area.
“Brendon became friends with ODA President, Nick Barbin (based in Dublin, California), and during January 2000 landed a project from ODA which was some of their overflow work. The standard of work ODA saw in EDA Technologies was outstanding and ODA continued to find projects for the ‘Aussies’ to do,” John says.
EDA’s perseverance in face-to-face contact paid off in a big offer fr...
