Hardware as a service’ the new IT deal
Setting up an entire business IT system - hardware, software, networking, the works – free of charge would seem suicidal for an IT service provider of any size.
SA-based business Your IT Manager is offering a service option to fit out office technology entirely, without up-front fees, in a pay-by-the-month plan.
GM, Gordon Russell calls the technique “hardware as a service” and says while the idea is not new globally, it is not widely available in South Australia. And he says Managed Service works out better for his business and the client.
Historically, Gordon says, the needs of business owners and their IT service providers have been in conflict.
Business owners want reliable equipment and services at the lowest price possible. If they don’t have an IT manager in-house, they want quick response from a service provider.
IT service providers prefer to bill by the hour for everything they do. This ‘break-fix’ model makes best use of expensive manpower when living up to promised response time is challenging.
