Angel Investors fly in
Business angels from across the world are coming to Adelaide to attend the third annual Australian Association of Angel Investors conference in February.
More than 150 innovators and investors are expected for the event, co-hosted by Innovate SA, from 17 to 19 February 2010 at the Stamford Grand Hotel, Glenelg. Innovate SA CEO, Greg Boundy says the conference is one of the premier investment events in Australia and offers significant potential for innovators seeking capital. “Angel investing remains a relatively new concept in Australia,” Greg says. “It offers privately funded capital, usually to a start up business, in exchange for a portion of ownership or convertible debt. “The conference is a once in a decade, perhaps even once in a lifetime, opportunity for SA businesses to hear from international leaders on the topic of angel investing. “Participants will learn about international best practice and issues like due diligence, analysing potential investments and exit strategies. “For both early stage and mature SA businesses this is an excellent chance to get ahead of the game in a developing area of venture capital. It is also highly relevant for service providers to growing businesses, such as lawyers and accountants, to broaden their advice capability.” Greg says angel investing provides another valuable option for raising capital, one of the major challenges seen by Innovate SA in its work to develop SA’s business community.
