TBI channels SA produce to China
South Australian products including food, wine and cosmetics will take pride of place on the shelves of a new chain of “one stop” home decor retail stores in China, under plans announced by a China-based but Adelaide-listed Thomas Bryson International.
TBI plans to open a chain of Thomas Bryson Home stores throughout China, with the first store - 13,000 square metres - due to open in Shaoxing, in Zhejiang province, early this year.
Dr Roger Sexton, the Adelaide-based Chairman of Thomas Bryson International, says a section in each store will highlight the very best products SA and Australia generally have to offer – including food, wine and cosmetics.
The stores will provide creative solutions for all homeowners’ soft furnishing needs including textiles, homewares, home décor and personal care items. TBI plans to open sites in Shanghai, Suzhou, Kunshan and Changshu in 2010 and 2011.
“The Australian way of life, and our clean and natural environment, is the envy of many people throughout the world, including the Chinese,” Dr Sexton says.
“While the focus of our Thomas Bryson Home stores is very much on the domestic market of China in the short to medium term, it is hoped the expansion of the brand within China will allow the stores to migrate into other countries and areas in the Asia Pacific region over time, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand.”
Australian products will feature in a dedicated sectio...
