Uni Adelaide fires entrepreneurial flair
Innovation and entrepreneurial flair are key ingredients when it comes to business success these days. It’s simply not enough to have a good product, idea, or top quality people.In recognising this trend the University of Adelaide is investing time and money to bridge the gap between the academic world and industry, making it easier for the two parties to ‘do business’.
Several initiatives have been launched by the University’s commercial development arm, Adelaide Research & Innovation, to achieve this goal.Internal training programs designed to up-skill researchers working with industry are honing commercial awareness and leadership skills.
Topics covered include protecting intellectual property, sourcing industry-linked funding opportunities and building skills and knowledge among current and aspiring research leaders that are critical to industry and management.
In partnership with Australia’s other leading universities – the Group of Eight – the University of Adelaide has pioneered a world-first leadership program for its researchers managed by its Graduate Centre.
It is also making it easier for outstanding researchers to access commercial funding programs so industry benefits from innovative breakthroughs in science,computing, medicine, engineering and the like.
