Gell fires up Canadian Chamber

Bob Gell, Chairman of the South Australian Chapter of the Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce (CACC- SA), is a man with a mission.
He has rejoined the Chamber as Chairman after two years interstate and is the driving initiatives to build stronger connections between Canadian and South Australian businesses.
Throughout his 45 years of business experience in SA, much of it in import and export of automotive replacement parts and accessories, Bob has built close ties with numerous Canadian businesses and sees a multitude of opportunities for SA enterprises.
In spite of the GFC and strong Australian dollar, bi-lateral trade between Canada and Australia has continued to grow with C$1.6 billion Australian goods imported to Canada and C$2.1 billion Canadian goods exported to Australia. Some sectors (manufacturing) are struggling but the net effect is strong and still growing.
“Australia and Canada share a common platform for working together in regards to our similar heritage, multicultural societies, shared values and the challenges of vast geographies and extreme climates,” Bob says.
“South Australia has a particularly close affinity with Canada due to more than 52 years of trade between Canadian provinces and SA, particularly in the fields of agribusiness and mining.
“Unlike some of our other trading partners, Canada is a low risk partner with no barriers such as language, trade impediments and high non-payment risks.”
