Small Business, we're at your service
Area Consultative Committees are non-profit, community based organisations serving rural, regional, remote and metropolitan communities. ACCs are made up of local volunteers drawn from the community and local business, and they provide an important link between the Federal Government and rural and metropolitan Australia. As volunteer community based organisations, ACCs are uniquely placed to respond to issues in their regions and provide a vital conduit to government on local, social and economic conditions.”
The committee members, appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Transport and Regional Services, are leading members of the local community who provide strategic leadership and direction in fulfilling the ACC’s charter and functions.
The Commonwealth recognises that optimal regional growth and development will only be achieved when communities manage change themselves and drive their own development with the support of both the Government and the private sector.
The concept is that this will work best when an effective organisational arrangement enables the Government to respond to each region’s needs and encourages the local community to take up the Commonwealth Government programs designed to achieve these goals.
A primary aim of ACCs is to support small business, the backbone of regional SA. ACCs have specialist small business officers keen to help.
