Digital Spirit Inspires Paula
Change is all in a day’s work for Spirit Films Producer, Paula Smith.
Spirit Films is a division of Adelaide-based visual arts enterprise, Kojo, which is undergoing an internal restructure to prepare the business for growth and a stronger presence in the digital space.
Newly named core business units - Content, Post Production, Digital and Events - will shape the internal landscape of the new Kojo, with Spirit Films becoming part of the Content team.
The new structure aims to deliver on Kojo’s new mantra, Content + Digital = Engagement. An equation covering everything from events to films, digital to entertainment.
“The variety of work in a normal day at Spirit Films is vast. Apart from the day-to-day management tasks of running a business, like board reports, managing budgets and staff, I also handle marketing and production of individual projects,” Paula says.
“Each project brings with it new challenges; one day I’ll be painting a studio, the next shopping for wardrobe, organising casting, location searching or booking crew and post production.
“I developed a strong work ethic early on in my 30-year career, accepting that this exciting work happens anywhere, anytime. To work in this industry, you must be passionate.
