Sandra shares detail with her team
Sandra Biggs, State Manager, Computershare Investor Services Pty Ltd calls herself “one of those people who started working as an office junior, making coffee and running errands”.
“The small private company I worked for was taken over by KPMG in the early 90s before being taken over by Computershare in 1997,” Sandra says.
“From the early years, when it was a small private company, I learned every facet of the business and how to be resourceful as we didn’t have the support teams afforded to larger organisations.
“Those skills have helped me to be a manager with detailed operational knowledge which I believe is important to our client base and the kind of business we are in.
“I have also observed over time a number of different management styles and I have tried to emulate the best of them and be on my guard against the less desirable traits of others.”
Sandra believes living up to the culture she wants in her business.
“I think that like parenting, having a positive role model is very important to staff satisfaction,” she says. I had a very poor role model in the early years and could see the negative impact of that.
“I try hard to create a positive working environment for staff and convey to them they are responsible for their own happiness in the work place – which simply means if something is not working for you, let us know and we will see how we can work together to fix it.
