Big Blind Date to repeat
The Big Blind Date 2011 is set to become a signature event for the RSB after pioneer, YBL candidate John Edwards, struck gold with the event last year.
John says the Big Blind Date concept struck him as a good way to achieve wide community participation.
“I looked for ways I could include as much of the community as possible. My aim was to make to create an event that would be appealing to a wide range of people regardless of age, gender or background,” John says.
“As well as attracting a lot of people I wanted an event that people would enjoy being a part of, so holding a party type event where we tried to give a lot to people attending rather than just trying to raise money seemed appropriate.
“After brainstorming with my volunteer team we decided on a traffic light party where guests would wear wristbands corresponding to their relationship status. It was something new and unique for Adelaide and, importantly, open to people of all ages, background, gender and relationship status.”
A ticket to the party includes fillips such as free drinks on arrival, a goodie bag, door prize entry, DJ, party band, entertainment and the all-important wristband.
