Reform gives conveyancers wide scope
Celebrating 21 years in business this year, Conveyancing Matters has first-hand experience of the rollercoaster ride that goes with operating in the property market.
But next year, regulatory standardisation across Australia will give the firm an historic opportunity to grow outside South Australia as uniform laws offer scope to win business interstate.
Real estate identity, John Erskine established the firm in 1990 during one of the worst periods the SA real estate market has seen; it took three months for the business to secure its first client!
Those days are long gone – Conveyancing Matters now works with property buyers and sellers, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, developers and others to facilitate more than 3000 property transactions each year in South Australia.
Part-owner and Marketing Manager, Penny Erskine, says Conveyancing Matters has always been committed to diversifying.
“For us it’s been about wanting to constantly evolve,” she says. “We’ve always watched and studied conveyancing and property industry trends in SA, interstate and overseas, and then developed our business to not only respond to those, but proactively create opportunities to grow the business and differentiate ourselves.
“As a result we offer a broad range of services where some others have chosen to concentrate solely on residential property. We’ve always had a focus on looking for niche markets that not only broaden our service offering, but give us the opportunity to develop and grow as professionals.
“That’s served us well in the past 12 months in light of the flat property market. Residential transactions have been down across SA and we haven’t been immune from that, but our focus on offering a wide range of services has largely offset that impact and ensured that business has been steady.”
