Workplace culture - does it matter

How much do people really care about workplace culture? Plenty: in fact, it appears culture is being recognised as one of the key determinants of personal work satisfaction.
Generation Y view working life very differently and bring with them new expectations. It’s no longer a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay and everything’s rosy!
We’ve all heard of the basic benefits of nurturing a positive workplace culture: staff retention, attracting quality applicants, higher levels of productivity and lower levels of staff absenteeism. But it’s also about improving the health and wellbeing of the general working population – lower stress levels, better overall health and more creative energy.
A positive workplace culture also has an effect on customers and other stakeholders – the feeling of walking out of a business feeling a whole lot better than when you walked in.
