Ahrens buys in to Olympic Dam opportunity

South Australian company, the Ahrens Group has acquired the business of Olympic Dam Precision Engineering Pty Ltd, based at Roxby Downs.

ODPE is a precision engineering, machining and steel fabrication business which services BHP Billiton, as well as other mining and support service customers. ODPE’s 20 employees, including existing owners and managers Chris Koning and Phil Lacey, will continue to work in the business.

Ahrens MD, Stefan Ahrens says the purchase of ODPE is consistent with the company’s strategy to expand its Mining Services and Infrastructure capabilities and invest in businesses with steady levels of recurring revenue.

“We have identified the Pilbara (WA), Olympic Dam (SA), the Surat Basin and Bown Basins (QLD) and the Northern Territory as having enormous potential for our vertically integrated operation to provide specialist Mining Infrastructure and Services,” Stefan says.
