Decluttering your life and business

It’s astounding how sometimes the most obscure experiences can have a profound effect.
I’d long been fascinated by the idea of travelling light. Inspired by the wisdom found at www.onebag. com I developed my own “Hand Luggage Only” travelling strategy and for the past four years I have not checked a bag on domestic or international travel.
Our entire family has even travelled “hand luggage only” on holidays - although I did later discover my wife had stashed multiple pairs of shoes in the kid’s luggage!
Of course to make it work you need to be prepared. You need the right luggage (I recommend the Airboss by RedOxx) and you must have a strategy for the clothes. Flexible clothing technology: I use IceBreaker clothes that can be use in “layers” to cope with variations in temperature and quick-drying underwear.
Ex-Officio make clever undies. They even claim - 14 days, 12 countries, one pair of underpants. Being conservative, I bought a second pair!
The advantages of travelling light are many. No lost luggage, quick to pack, un-pack and re-pack, easy to move from one mode of transport to the other and I reckon I can exit an International Airport up to 40 minutes quicker than those with checked-in luggage. The speed advantage multiplies. First to immigration means first to the trains or the taxis - beating multiple queues.
