Discipline keeps quality act together
In the very first in-business back in 2001 we wrote about Total Quality Certification Services, a six-year old,
Adelaide-based quality assurance firm.
Today, TQCS International is the second largest, JAS-ANZ accredited, certification body in the world, with 26 regional offices and 10 branch offices on four continents.
TQCSI’s growth has been steady and impressive: recently TQCSI President, Craig Bates, flew to Italy to open the firm’s 27th office, in Brindisi.
“While we espouse our service to be the most professional in our industry, at the end of the day many clients are only interested in the bottom line, particularly when the final decision is made by the business owner - who may not be the user of the service and is more interested in the cost,” Craig says. “It is not until later on that many clients realize the real benefits of a more professional service well outweigh the investment.
“Being a service industry, it is not a ‘one off’ transaction and we audit our clients annually. Many of our competitors are cheaper and try to attract our clients. “Consequently, we focus on offering services that complement the core business. Those services include greater client liaison, better audit reporting promoting their products/services through TQCSI Trading to facilitate trade, coordination of training courses and seminars specifically for our clients, and coordination of education only for our clients’ children (many Asian clients prefer an international education).”
TQCSI is managed globally from Adelaide – 6500 clients in 32 countries – and the firm has embraced the internet to ensure real time coordination.
