Hong Kong fast tracks market understanding
Hong Kong is more relevant than ever as a channel to Mainland China from legal, linguistic and risk perspectives.
That’s the message the Hong Kong Australia Business Association of SA has for importers and exporters, underlined by HKABA-SA’s new Market Research program.
“The HKABA’s core objectives are to promote trade, cultural understanding and build relationships between Australia, Hong Kong SAR & Mainland China.,” says HKABA-SA board member, Mike Higgs.
“We do this with networking events, information workshops & trade delegations. Every year we acknowledge high achievers trading in the region with our Business Awards. This year stands to be our biggest ever Business Awards & Gala Dinner event, 10 August at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre - a world class venue, amazing food, great entertainment and guest speakers including Premier Jay Wetherill.”
Hong Kong’s status as a Special Administrative Region and China’s ‘One country two systems’ policy continues to make the former British colony a logical place for Australian companies to enter the greater China market.
“However for all the positives from Australia’s point of view it is also worth noting that a substantial number of Chinese companies choose to have a presence in Hong Kong as well because of the absence of many of the ‘controls’ and ‘restrictions’ that exist in mainland China,” Mike says.
