Safety solutions you can implement in your business
Protect yourself, your people and your commercial viability by applying the best safety defence possible – prevention.
The following list of tips was a key WorkCover document featured during Safe Work Week from 11–15 November.
Consider your current defence
- Check records and reports on any injuries or illness
- Talk to your employees to find out their concerns
- Be on your guard for danger – do a walk around the workplace.
Some kick start activities
- Do a walk-through, identify hazards and develop an action plan
- Hold an information session or meeting to discuss health and safety
- Hold an OHS good ideas competition
- Hold a fire drill or evacuation
- Check that your electrical equipment is safe and tagged as required
- Clean up work areas, storage areas and walkways
- Review the safety procedures for your contractors and temporary staff in your workplace
- Review the layout and housekeeping of your office and administration areas
- Introduce rest breaks and exercises to reduce tension, stress and over use of muscles.
Kick-starting high risk industries
