TEC CEO Survey
The Executive Connection (TEC) Australia, an international organisation for CEOs with 700 local members, today released results of the TEC Index, a quarterly survey of chief executives. 275 Australian CEOs of small to medium-size enterprises across a range of industries including retail, legal, accounting, tourism, manufacturing and exporting, were polled during the week of 16 September. TEC in the US, UK and Canada also conducted the survey with their members.
Australian CEOs are bullish about 2003 with a total of 86 percent reporting they plan to increase sales revenue projections for the next 12 months. Of those surveyed, 19 percent plan to increase projections by more than 20 percent. Australian CEOs are slightly more confident than their US counterparts, 78 percent of whom plan an increase, with 16 percent planning an increase of 20 percent or more. Canadian and UK CEOs also look forward to a stronger year with 78 percent and 85 percent, respectively, planning to increase total sales revenue projections.
67 percent of Australian CEOs identify developing a more focused business plan as a key strategy for growth. A third of respondents expect to increase their expansion options over the next six months and 55 percent plan to increase capital expenditures with 21 percent planning to increase capital expenditure by more than 10 percent. These figures were similar for the UK and Canada, although Australian CEOs expect the increase to be slightly higher.
