How to protect your employees against electrical faults
Adding value to regular client services is a key to consistently good business. OH&S consultancy Occupational Safety Services has found that very thorough work on its part can have benefits for clients that extend well beyond preventing industrial accidents.
OSS was established seven years ago to meet a percieved need for electrical testing services to businesses and institutions. Larger workplaces need to make sure that equipment is safe for workers to use; Australian Standard AS 3760 offers detailed guidelines for this.
"Basically, anything with a plug in the workplace should be tested," says OSS managing director, Nicholas Noutsatos.
Primary clients are State Government departments, along with Defence establishments (in the ACT, NSW, Victoria and South Australia), banks and schools. Clients get a certificate listing the number of items which pass—or fail.
