Business in e-Court
The Electronic Transactions Act (SA) 2000 provides for a significant changes in the way the community can and will do business with SA Courts in future. In brief, the State legislation intends that the public, commercial and government organisations will be empowered to transact electronically, virtually any form of business which they had previously transacted by paper.
For this transformation to be successful, with a significant take-up rate within the community and the legal profession, the electronic applications were designed to be simple and user-friendly. Certain IT standards were designated by the Court to enable the creation of a communications platform between the Court and the Court users. This application had the capacity to be adopted quickly, efficiently and cheaply.
The strategy of the Courts Administration Authority (CAA) to conduct more Court business using electronic facilities is based around the Internet and remains a principal aim.
