Introduction to The Board Appointment checklist

Directors are expected to take risks, provided they win; they are facing unprecedented public scrutiny; they are being held accountable for some issues beyond their control and they run the risk of having to fund legal action to clear their names and reputations.
But if the conclusion to these pressures is to avoid becoming a director, the implications for the Australian community would be dire.
The answer lies in having a full and ongoing understanding of your organisation, the environment in which it operates and the issues it faces. As with most things in life a balance is required and directors need to find the appropriate balance for their organisation between performance and conformance.
